Junk food refer anything that
is made from white flour and refined white sugar which is high in calories and
fats.
Junk Food like
Chicken roll, egg roll, fish roll, chicken pie, doughnuts, fish pie, sausage
roll, hot dogs, meat pie, vada pav, Samosa pav, chips, soda, deep fried foods,
chocolates are so tempting by appearance and taste, so it
is popular among foodie people. Mostly Junk food is typically processed
and prepackaged that has little to no nutritional value and high in
calories. Most of the Junk food is popular because most it is inexpensive, easy
to find, easy to make.
Eating junk food regularly is linked to obesity and chronic health
conditions such as high blood pressure, but many people still choose junk food
sources over their healthy, nutritious whole food counterparts.
In metro city most of the married couple is working, they have busy
working schedules so they have less time to prepare healthy, nutritious meals,
so they opt for faster, easier options. Whole foods such as vegetables and meat
take time and kitchen equipment to cook properly so most of the working people
prefer to stick with the faster option.
Junk food availability in schools
has contributed to the childhood obesity epidemic. In city most of the student
come for completing their education and they live hostel life. Most students as
a result of their class schedule don’t have time to prepare good healthy meals
for themselves even if they wanted to. Whereas some students don’t
even know how to prepare meals.
At the same time college life gives them more freedom to choose the type
and the amount of food they eat. Most college campuses have dining facilities
that provide a variety of food options, which can lead to establishing either
good or bad eating behaviors. Eating regular junk food lead
to depression, low self-esteem, digestive problems. It affects students’
performance in school as well as other extra-curricular activities.
